We were approached to undertake the internal construction to four newly erected interconnected small business units constructed on redundant ground at these famous film studios. The works consisted of the installation of external glazed facades to three linking ‘atriums’. Extensive use of timber cladding and other ‘soft’ materials were also employed in the foyers to interlink the interiors with the outside.
The interior workspaces were defined by using structural and non structural glazed screens to ensure all units could be let as either single or grouped units. Internal solid partitioning was kept to a minimum to enhance the appearance of the coffered ceilings. All lighting was eco friendly and linked to a whole building BMS. Fully integrated business system cable management and power was installed in the access floor system.

The brief was to produce forty eight of the highest possible quality washrooms accompanied by kitchenettes, first aid and other rest facilities in the new Home Office for her Majesty’s Government.
Due to the multi location work areas our site management developed a ‘work team’ system where specific task would be undertaken and then the following team would move in to complete their element of work. This proved successful in both maintaining the output of finished work but also in ensuring no work areas were missed. Although simplistic in design the end result required much in house design for our joinery shop to produce the finished work for site.

This pair of Edwardian house (owned by the Association of Teachers & Lecturers) had been unoccupied for some eight years when the client decided to renovate and take to the office rental market. Logistics were a major factor in the short contract period as there was no storage or site accommodation other than in the work areas.
To bring more natural light into the basement the rear wall was cut away, structurally supported and a glazed atrium screen inserted. The front facades were cleaned and all the stone work repaired sympathetically along with the railings and entrance steps were also restored.
Comfort cooling was installed along with central heating. The lift was also renovated. Skirting trunking for small power and VOIP systems were also installed. All existing conservation windows were renovated and the rear elevation had self cleaning glass installed.

All joinery items were manufactured in house and installed on site. This is also applicable to the hand finish Travertine marble flooring and special plaster and paint finishes to the walls and ceilings.

The project was one of the first tranche of a nationwide washroom refurbishment programme and as such was still in the early stages of design and manufacture of bespoke elements required to realise the architects and clients vision.
After extensive demolitions and alterations to the existing concrete structure, installation of the mechanical ventilation commenced. The use of radius walls, within the washrooms, aided in producing a more special effect within the new area. Extensive templating was employed to ensure all our in house produced joinery items fitted correctly to these walls. Touch sensor taps and toilet flush systems completed the new sanitary ware installation. To finish the refurbishment extensive use of painted glass and graphics completed the visual collage to these refurbished male and female facilities. Finally, the adjoining 1970’s lift lobby was completely refurbished to a similar level complimenting the whole washroom experience.
